SINTEF Energy seeks social scientist with workplace Oslo

Climate Settlement of 2008 has stimulated increased research on energy and climate issues. R & D strategy, Energy 21 has formulated a vision to develop Norway to become a society with virtually no greenhouse gas emissions, a major exporter of environmentally friendly power to Europe while it is a good country for the world's leading energy and technology companies. Much of the research is oriented toward the technical challenges, but it underlined the importance of political frameworks and social analysis. Therefore, it also expressed a clear desire to strengthen the social scientific energy research. This has SINTEF Energy already answered, but we need a new employee.

SINTEF Energy seeks, therefore, a new social researcher associated with our newly established research teams located in Oslo, focusing on policy and management. We are looking primarily a senior ?EUR "preferably with a PhD, which may form part of our ongoing research and assessment missions related to various issues in the energy system. The researcher we seek should be interested to illuminate all the key aspects of public management around energy and climate policy challenges, and often in close dialogue with the strategic actors ?EUR "both in public and private sectors. The problems are many. Graduate students who wish to embark on d challenges should also show his interest.

SINTEF Energy is currently heavily involved in the new Research Centers for Environmental Energy and we are looking for a researcher who can be part of our ongoing work within CEDRES. This activity is specifically oriented towards environmental design of renewable energy and focus is the political management of water and wind power production and how to better unite the energy and environmental policy considerations. Stimulation of renewable, environmentally friendly electricity production will not give large contributions if you do not have transmission capacity to satisfy demand. This must still be done in an environmentally friendly way, but power and cable connections are important references. The person we seek should also have an interest in end-user clause. Empirical focus is primarily Scandinavia and Northern Europe, but in line with the internationalization of the Norwegian energy industry also wants us to expand our horizons.
