National Veterinary Institute is a national research institute in food safety, animal health and fish health management with the support of the authorities that primary role. National Veterinary Institute's activities should have their basis in research and development and include laboratory diagnostics and analysis, emergency preparedness, epidemiology, risk assessment and reference functions. Veterinary Institute to support the ministries and other government agencies in efforts to ensure safe food and good fish, shellfish and animal health. The department includes the main laboratory in Oslo and regional laboratories in Sandnes, Bergen, Trondheim, Harstad and Troms?, totaling approximately 350 employees. At the Veterinary Institute in Oslo, Section for Epidemiology, is for immediate employment, free a 4-year commitment to research with the opportunity of a permanent position later. The section has currently 14 staff including two research
fellows.

Section of Epidemiology is responsible for the National Veterinary Institute's core competencies within the epidemiology and risk assessment in relation to fish and animal health and food safety. Tasks is to provide research-based scientific advice
to the governing body (the Ministry and the Authority) in relation to the national and international zoosanit?re situation.

The section participates in many national surveillance and control program. Research activity encompasses described rivande, analytical and theoretical (computer-based modeling) epidemiology and risk assessment within all the areas that the National Veterinary Institute covers.

Work tasks
The position is largely related to management of two ongoing interdisciplinary project on HSMB and CMS with the supervisor responsible for the fellow on the CMS-epidemiology. Furthermore, the position has partial responsibility for the various monitoring programs (eg. PD, VHS), with reporting, development and evaluation. It is required that the candidate will develop and conduct new research, be to establish activity within the Health Economics and have an interest in international work.

Qualifications / Request background
We seek a candidate with a PhD in epidemiology or adjacent to the field, who have expertise in the use of such SAS and GIS (ESRI) and who can demonstrate active and good international network. Candidates with experience from infectious problems in the aquaculture industry will be preferred. Supervisor Experience and personal characteristics in terms of good cooperation ability, independence, communication ability and language skills will be emphasized.
 
The position will pay for the State's regulations are working in code 1109 or 1110 salary 59-72 (currently ?. 454 900 581 700 pr. Years), depending on qualifications and seniority. From wages is the preferred 2% to the Government Pension Fund.
