National Veterinary Institute is a national research institute in food safety, animal health and fish health management with the support of the authorities that primary role. National Veterinary Institute's activities should have their basis in research and development and include laboratory diagnostics and analysis, emergency preparedness, epidemiology, risk assessment and reference functions. Veterinary Institute to support the ministries and other government agencies in efforts to ensure safe food and good fish, shellfish and animal health. The department includes the main laboratory in Oslo and regional laboratories in Sandnes, Bergen, Trondheim, Harstad and Troms?, totaling approximately 350 employees. At the National Veterinary Institute Section for Mycology is the imminent accession of free commitment.
At the department for feed and food safety work is underway on various issues related to micro-organisms and foreign substances in feed and foodstuffs. By section of Mycology working one on issues related to molds and yeasts in feed and food. The section is also responsible for the diagnosis of mykoser of animals on land and at sea, including oomykoser.
The section is actively engaged in national and international research projects. The section currently has 12 employees of which 6 researchers, 2 PhD students and 4 engineers. It is driven research in mycology and oomyceter. The position is a commitment, initially for a year, but with possibility for extension up to 3 years depending on the funding basis.
Responsibilities
The person appointed will take part in the operation and supervision of a new Marie Curie ITN EU project entitled Sustainable Approaches to Reduce Oomycete (Saprolegnia) infections in Aquaculture (SAPRO) (FP7-PEOPLE-ITN-2008). Partly related to this project shall be employed also participate in the implementation and operation of a new konfokalmikroskop at the National Veterinary Institute. It is expected also that the person appointed will contribute with expertise in microbiology f?rtrygghet.
Qualifications / Desired Background
Applicants must have relevant education from a university or college. The successful candidate must master written and spoken English, and have experience in research methodology and scientific publishing. Applicants must have relevant medical expertise, including medical mycology and basic understanding of patogenesestudier. It will continue an emphasis on competence in oomyceter and experience of working with fish. Applicants should also document the competence of microscopy, as well as light-konfokalmikroskopi. Experience and expertise in most of the aforementioned subject areas and documented ability to cooperate and work independently will be given weight in the assessment of potential candidates.
The position is remunerated by the State pay scale as a researcher - Code 1108, 1109, 1110 or 1183 salary from 53 to 76 (currently ? 409 100 630 400 per year), depending on seniority and / or qualifications. The preferred 2% of salary to the Government Pension Fund.
