Oslo University College (HiO) is the largest state college, with over 12 000 students and 1250 staff, located in down town Oslo. College provides a wide range of studies at the bachelor, master's and doctoral levels and rates actively to strengthen R & D activities.
Oslo University College is from 1 January 2010 vacancy as director of research. Research Director is head of R & D section, has personal responsibility for approx. 10 people linked to the section and report to the college director.
Oslo University College has elected the rector who is the Chairman and Managing Director as head of the administration. Rector has from 1 August 2007 two pro-rector of which one has the research and development as a responsibility. The college has health care and welfare, technology, design and environment, communication, education, upbringing and culture, education, science and professional studies as priority areas in research. OUC will further develop and strengthen the profession-oriented R & D work and subject-specific research. The multi-cultural challenges for OUC will also be strengthened in R & D work.
Academic activities at the college carried out mainly by the departments and centers. Three research programs contribute to the strengthening interdisciplinarity of R & D effort. A mid-term evaluation of research programs have recently been completed. OUC is currently a doctoral program by the Center for professional studies (SPS), an application for a to is to treat the NOKUT and two more applications will come in 2010. The only Associate program is developed by the Educational Development Center (PUS). The college has a comprehensive portfolio R & D mission in cooperation with the region and public sectors and is aiming at facilitating innovation and entrepreneurship among students and staff. In this context, research director for a major responsibility for this complex interplay works in accordance with the approved R & D strategies and goals.
Research Director will further contribute to the development of an overall research policy and research strategy at the college, to initiate and develop relationships to research funders and research networks. Moreover, research director should ensure that the college has an effective and feasible research management. The latter entails the responsibility for:
* Central administrative R & D tasks and procedural * Secretary of the college's research committee * Tasks related to innovation / entrepreneurship / Student Work * General administrative assistance to interdisciplinary research, SPS and PUS * Administrative support to departments and centers at the R & D applications
It requires technical expertise at a high level, preferably a PhD or equivalent, administrative and research strategic lederkompetanse, as well as good knowledge of the Norwegian research system. Applicants must demonstrate leadership positions in professional development and / or R & D activities and should have experience in research management. International experience is an advantage. Good understanding of the organization and operation of institutions of higher education is considered an advantage. The successful candidate must have excellent leadership, communication and collaboration capabilities, great working capacity, ability of strategic thinking and to build relationships.

The position is remunerated by salary, 1060 Deputy Director, ltr. 77-80. For especially qualified to seek higher wages are considered. From the salary drawn statutory deposits for the Government Pension Fund.
