At IMR we need a post doctor who will work with reproductive physiological problems in the project, "Why do Atlantic cod females become eggbound? - Studies Wed possible causes and mechanisms ", which is funded by the Norwegian Research Council.

The position is a 2-year commitment with the possibility of extension to 4 years subject to further funding. The position is located in the subject group to reproduction and growth, with pt workplace Austevoll.Main tasks will be experimental studies of final maturation and spawning in the female cod and how this is affected by external and internal factors, with particular focus on the irregular spawning and possible causes of spawning failure, and the analysis work on biochemical, molecular and histological methods.

The position we want a person with a PhD in zoophysiology or other relevant biological discipline. Applicants must further preferably demonstrate good knowledge and experience, experimental work with marine fish farming in different life stages, and preferably work with brood stock and eggs. The successful candidate should have a background in biochemistry / molecular biological analysis and / or pharmacology.

Personal qualities such as good communication and collaboration capabilities, ability to work independently, effectively and purposefully, as well as the ability to generate, implement and report on project activities will be emphasized.
