NORWEGIAN POLAR INSTITUTE
drift management-oriented research and consultancy, environmental monitoring, mapping and field activities in the polar area of the Norwegian state. Polar Institute is under the Ministry of the Environment and the contact and service body for Norwegian and international polar research. The Institute has currently a lot of activity and is involved in many projects. Climate change is a central theme. 150 persons working at the main office in Troms?, Svalbard and Antarctica.
Material manager at Ny-?lesund
Norwegian Polar Institute are applying materials to administer in Ny-?lesund for the two-year term, with the opportunity to extend the 2 +2 years.
Position belongs ingeni?r-/teknikargruppa, which currently has five staff in New ?lesund. The group is responsible for operation and maintenance of the technical and scientific equipment at the station and to YTA services to current guest researchers.
Work tasks
Maintainer field equipment, boats, snowmobiles, vehicles, weapons, communications, clothing, etc.; equipped and help researchers to operate in and around Ny-?lesund; give researchers the field training, participate in the operation of the station and the various diverse and varied work.
Qualifications There is desirable with a versatile background as much as possible. We emphasize both mechanical and digital expertise. It is important to be sj?vant and have experience with the use of open boat. Knowledge about snowmobiles, guns and field experience from Svalbard is an advantage. Is necessary certificate for the car, any time the truck driver certificate. One must also have good knowledge of English.
We are therefore seeking a versatile person, who has good cooperation skills and are result oriented. There is great emphasis on personal characteristics. Good health is also necessary.
We do note that the Ny-?lesund is an arctic utestasjon no facilities for kids and family. Note also that only polar dogs (husky and greenland dogs) are allowed in Ny-?lesund.

In addition to the salary comes polar supplement, which currently is U.S. $ 3133.40 per month, and a fixed godtgjering for uh?veleg working on the 3500 U.S. a month. In the Ny-?lesund is the free board and lodging, free travel up and down in conjunction with her appointment, and an annual free trip home to the mainland. Svalbard Tax / National Insurance tax makes up 15.8%. It is fixed membership in the State's pension fund.
