At the University Center for Information Technology (USIT), Group for scientific computing, is the free one of two fixed positions in the intersection between information technology and scientific methods. The tasks involves close contact with scientists, and we'll be happy that you have your own research experience. You must have experience of IT-supported scientific problem-solving.

Group for scientific computing is one of three groups in the Section for education and research, and working on issues and services in the calculation, storage, statistics, visualization, qualitative methods, data collection and more, aimed at research at the University of Oslo. Our Linux cluster Titan included in the national calculation cooperation (Notur). We deliver national services for the storage of research data ('s Tore). Through participation in the Nordic Data Grid Facility, we provide the storage and computational services to the experiments at CERN Large Hadron Collider. One example of services to UiO researchers and their partners are Bioportalen, which provides access to advanced computational resources for bioinformatikkere and others. The group has a lot of activity, and works with a variety of disciplines, both within MEDNAT and HUMSAM.

Responsibilities:
Follow up to scientific communities with advanced use of IT tools
Develop and customize applications for different hardware platforms
Develop internal and external documentation of solutions and services
Follow up to the user requests
Participate in projects and academic activities
Develop and provide services to large storage and computation systems
Develop and implement training courses
Requirements for qualifications for the positions:
The basis for assessments of applicants are eligibility requirements for positions at USIT, as is already done for the http://www.usit.uio.no/stillinger/tekniske.html
In addition, the following requirements to the applicants' qualifications:
Higher education at least Master degree / postgraduate level. In particular, substantial real competence may in certain cases replace the requirement for higher levels
Experience of IT-supported scientific problem solving and methodology support
Experience with scientific software
Experience with Linux
Experience with programming and / or scripting (C, C + +, Fortran, Python, Perl, shell, PHP)
Ability to work independently, cooperate, coordinate and motivate staff
Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Bioinformatics / bioinformatikkapplikasjoner
Application development and customization
Structured storage and application related to storage services
In the assessment of the applicants will also be placed on:
PhD degree / research experience
Service-oriented attitude and good communication skills written and oral
Experience from national / international projects
Experience with numerical methods and visualization
Knowledge of national programs that Notur and Norse tore
The positions will be innplassert as Chief Engineer Footwear 1087 or senior engineer Footwear 1181
Eligibility requirement for a senior engineer Footwear 1181 is in addition to the above:
Relevant education from a university or college, at least equivalent to master's level
It is a condition with extensive relevant professional experience and specialized high-level customized the post functions
The required documented experience of work management
Salary Span:
Chief Engineer ltr. 55-65, (NOK 423 700 - U.S. $. 509 000 depending on qualifications)
Senior Engineer ltr. 63-70, (NOK 490 400 - U.S. $. 558 000 depending on qualifications)
