Norwegian Forest and Landscape (Forest and Landscape) is a national institute under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The Institute provides business, government and public knowledge of the environment and wealth creation through research and mapping of land resources. Forest and Landscape has 220 employees and is located with its headquarters at ?s, and regional offices in North Norway, Central Norway and Western Norway.
Norwegian Forest and Landscape is responsible for monitoring the agricultural landscape. Monitoring provides the national overview of state and development in the landscape and the status of its cultural and environmental values. Monitoring supported by research with a focus on changes in the landscape and the forces behind these changes. The use of geodata bases and advanced geographic analysis techniques are key tools and the department is a leading public use of geographic information technology. Activities leading to important knowledge about the effects and effectiveness within the agricultural and environmental sectors. To strengthen the interaction between monitoring and research institute puts emphasis on the employees within the discipline will contribute to both programs. One of our skilled employees are in 2010 than in any other work. The Department therefore has a vacancy as a GIS specialist and analyst within the area of landscape.
Responsibilities
* GIS analysis of landscape data from monitoring and research projects * Development of analytical methods * Assessment and reporting of results from the landscape analysis * Presentation of GIS results as maps and statistics * Organizing and documenting the department's landscape data (this happens in cooperation with the department's Geomatics section)
Qualifications
* Diploma in a relevant subject area. Current background can be natural resource management or geography * Very good knowledge of the use of GIS and analysis of geographic data * Experience of studies and analysis is an advantage * Experience of project management * Proven excellent written formulation ability (Norwegian) and the ability both to express themselves in formal and structured, and to present matters in an easily understandable way
